To any self respecting Greek, coffee is a daily ritual which must be observed, preferably in one of the cafes in pleasant surroundings whether by the sea or high up in the mountain with the rest of the island laid down like a canvas for visual entertainment. Frappe, fredduccino, cappuccino, greek coffee any one of these words is enough to make us stop working and take a much 'deserved' coffee break.
Idyllic cafes and snack bars sprout everywhere offering crepes, sandwiches and a host of tantalising snacks, coffees and fruit juices. They are open from early in the morning to late at night when they light up in a wonderful display of multi coloured lights and offer those first few relaxation drinks with soft music playing at a comfortable acoustic level making it ideal for a conversation.
So sit back and relax, take your time with your drink or snack. There's no rush, time slows down in Kos when on holiday and the bars and nightclubs can wait. After all they don't close at eleven or twelve. The night in Kos is always still young. |
